Oppo A16k Product Review
The A16K has a 6.52 inches, 720 x 1600 pixels IPS display with a pixel density of 269ppi. This smartphone is available in Blue and Black colors and has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera for selfies. The A16K has 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage space, Android 11, and Mediatek Helio G35 chipset.
Platform and performance
One of the best features of this Oppo A16K smartphone is that it has a large storage capacity, at 64/32GB, and an equally generous RAM of 4/3GB. I mean with 4/3GB RAM you are in for a smooth experience, and even better multitasking. This is an upgrade from last year rather than limiting 32GB with 4GB RAM. It is however still eMMC 5.1. Another advantage would be the platform wise where this one comes running Android 11, with ColorOS 11.1 Lite. This Lite version upgrade is currently available for OPPO Find X2, Find X2 Pro, and Find X2 Pro.
Onboard is a MediaTek MT6765G Helio G35 (12 nm) chipset and an Octa-core (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU. The MediaTek Helio G35 is a fast octa-core Arm Cortex-A53 CPU with peak speeds of 2.3GHz. It’s GPU, an IMG PowerVR GE8320. Although Oppo’s primary focus on this phone is its 3D Sleek Design, we think the company has done an alright job tweaking this phone’s performance which customers will highly appreciate by the way.
HD+ Eye-care Screen
Oppo claims that the newly designed Nano-Water-drop Notch of Oppo A16K is 31.4% smaller than before. But we think what matters here is that the display is a massive 6.5 inches IPS LCD touchscreen. If you are curious to know about its screen-to-body ratio then know that it stands at 89%. This is quite an estate especially for playing games and watching videos. The experience is quite entertaining. We would have hoped for a higher than 60 Hz refresh rate though. That would have been so, refreshing.
What also excites it is that this display offers 450 nits type. brightness. This means you will be able to see it even while outdoors. But we must hate to learn that it comes with 720 x 1600 pixels resolution pixels and a rather low ~270 PPI density. Nevertheless, this is an okay display panel. As for the displays’ dimensions, we have a 102.6 cm2 area and a ~83.0% screen-to-body ratio. This display is not so different by the way from the one we saw on Oppo A15 of 2020, October 27.
Cameras
Why Oppo decided to go with a single camera with this phone still surprises many. And it will do just for quite some time seeing that the previous generation had 3 on the back and a selfie. Oppo A16K comes with two cameras only. One main 13 MP, f/2.2, (wide), 1/3.1″, 1.12µm, PDAF which is the same lens Oppo A15 had, and a 5 MP selfie shooter capable of 1080p@30fps videos. Apart from that, the much we can add is the company’s own words in these, “The powerful camera is built to capture anything you want with precise clarity, in any conditions.” But we all must agree that there is only one way to find this out.
Battery
Oppo A16k comes with a 4,230mAh battery able to go through a whole day of usage with so much ease. Oppo claims you can watch HD videos online for up to 17 hours, or play games for up to 8 hours. Now, this long-lasting battery also takes a bit longer to charge to full capacity since the speeds are capped at 10W. And Oppo has provided just the right charger in the box to achieve the same.
