This one is a beauty of a phone I must say. Looks- check, design language- check, build quality- check. It has these dimensions 162.4 x 77.1 x 8.1 mm and weighs about 173 grams. The glossy back of this phone has a dual camera set up on the top right corner (housed together). Below them is the LED flash and LEICA branding is also somewhere in that estate.
There is a rear mounted fingerprint scanner on the back, and reports have it that it unlocks with speed and accuracy. Camera placement is in vertical orientation just like HUAWEI branding on the bottom right corner. Facing you is its 6.5 inches display panel sandwiched by the top notch and slim bottom bezel. The notch houses the selfie cameras, call speaker and sensors.
That is pretty much it about the design of this phone. Although I have to say that USB type C would have been a better inclusion as compared to USB 2.0 which Huawei opted for here. I mean, it is 2018 Huawei, why do such a thing? Not a deal breaker though, there is more this phone has to offer-its performance for example.
Performance and memory
Platform
Hopefully the Android 8.1 (Oreo) it ships with will get an update to the latest Pie 9.0 which is officially out now. Not that Android Oreo has is bad, not at all. It just is nice to have the latest software on your device. This phone comes with a Hisilicon Kirin 710 (12 nm) chipset, an Octa-core (4×2.2 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU and a Mali-G51 MP4 GPU.
Memory
There are two version of the Huawei Mate 10 lite with respect to internal storage and memory. 128 GB with 6 GB RAM or 64 GB with 4 GB RAM. Both internal storages can be expanded using microSD, up to 400 GB.
Display and camera
Display
A phablet smartphone with a 6.5 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is one display you will love and enjoy interacting with. With 103.7 cm2 (~82.8% screen-to-body ratio) and 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~396 ppi density) resolution you can barely go wrong. Especially considering the price point of the Mate 20 lite.
It is a bright display really and outdoor visibility on it will not be a hustle. There is support for multi touch and 16 M colors here. I wish Huawei could be clear about the kind of protection this display has. Alternatives include rocking a screen protector though, just to be sure.
Camera
We get four cameras here. Two main and the other two are 2 MP depth sensors. A 16 MP, PDAF main camera on the back and a 13 MP front facing camera. Both shoot video at 1080p@30fps. Well, the main camera is the better of the two although the selfie camera is a respectable lens as well. Photo lovers will sure have something to boast about here. I say Huawei Mate 20 lite score 7 out of 10 for camera performance.
Battery
Here we get a Non-removable Li-Ion 4000 mAh battery that will last you up to a whole day of mixed usage. I think battery performance on the Huawei Mate 20 lite also constitutes its strong points.
